OVERALL WINNER & TOP TEN OVERALL

The OVERALL WINNER and OVERALL TOP TEN is awarded to the deer whose score comes closest to or most exceeds the minimal requirement for Boone & Crockett combining TYPICAL & NON-TYPICAL.

For Typical: B&C requires 170 Net to be in the ALL TIME RECORD BOOK

For Non-Typical: B&C requires a 195 Net to be in the ALL TIME RECORD BOOK

 

A rack does NOT have to make B&C or P&Y to place.

The net score (number) is the determining factor.  

It is a function of math.

For example: 

A Typical score of 155 Net places above the Non-Typical Net score of 165.

How?

A 150 scoring typical is 15" away from putting the hunter in the

B&C ALL TIME RECORD BOOK. 

The Non-Typical score of 165 is 30" from putting the hunter in the

B&C ALLTIME RECORD BOOK.

Another example:

A 215 Net scoring Typical places above a 220 Net Non-Typical.

How?

The 215 Typical is 45" ABOVE the required 170 for Typical 

B&C ALL TIME RECORD BOOK

The 220 Non-Typical is 35" ABOVE the required 195 for Non-Typical

B&C ALL TIME RECORD BOOK

It takes quite a giant to make the B&C ALL TIME RECORD BOOK regardless if it's

 a Typical or Non-Typical!

The largest Typical on Record is the Milo Hansen Buck with a score of 213 5/8! 

The largest Non-Typical is the Brewster Buck with a score of 327 7/8! 

Of these two, the Non-Typical Brewster Buck would place above the Hansen buck.

The Brewster Buck is the P&Y World Record.

It is also the largest ever hunter killed buck in B&C records.

Some would ask why we don't just use gross or full credit score.  We use B&C and P&Y because those are widely accepted methods of scoring throughout the hunting industry.  It is our goal to give hunters the most recognition possible and that recognition is talked about in terms of B&C and P&Y.

We like full credit!  We use it to talk about our own deer harvest and we use it for the County Awards at the Big Buck Classic! 

It gives an accounting for the full amount of antler that was grown. 

However, it is not how you get your deer listed with B&C or P&Y.  And that goes back to our goal of giving Arkansas hunters and Arkansas deer the most recognition possible.

JUST FOR THE RECORD:

From 2020-2024, there have been 12 Typicals & 13 Non-Typs win the Big Buck Classic.

Just don't see how it can be much closer than that.
